Val Saint Lambert Crater Vase in Blue

A Val Saint Lambert Crater Vase. These naturalistic vase shapes were probably originated by Daum after the War as the glassmakers sought different and more contemporary styles that mimicked natural forms.  This large vase is very unusual for Val and dramatically uses blue flashing inside the bowl to create an explosion of colour that appears separate from the body – almost with the same effect as Murano Sommerso but achieved differently.  A very beautiful vase in exceptional condition with just very minor omissions around the base edge which are only visible to very close inspection. Likely made late 1950s to 1960s.
